The Indiana Prospects is expanding for the 2019-2020 softball season in an effort to continue to offer girls the opportunity to play at the highest level while preparing them to compete at the next level.
To accomplish that, the Indiana Prospects has reached an agreement with three veteran softball coaches to form a competitive 12U team next season.
Tim has been involved in multiple sports as a coach and player his entire life. He’s played baseball at the high school, American legion, and collegiate level for a short time. He is also a hitting instructor. Tim is entering his 6th year coaching competitive fastpitch and his first with the Prospects after coaching for Indiana Mafia.
Tim lives in Brownsburg with his wife Shanna, daughter Ava-Grace, and son Griffin. He works as a home office principal for One America Securities and has a Master’s Degree in Management and Leadership. Tim is a very detailed coach who stresses technical development of the overall athlete both physically and mentally. Tim is a strong believer in creating a positive team culture that thrives on hard work and maximum effort. When not coaching, he enjoys camping, hiking, and spending time with his family.
Joe has been involved in multiple sports as a coach and player his entire life. He played baseball at many different levels up until high school. Joe is entering his 4th year coaching competitive fastpitch and his first with the Prospects after coaching for the Indiana Mafia.
Joe lives in Martinsville with his wife Patricia, daughters Kaitlin, Destiny, and Micaela. He works as a Project Manager for Heritage Environmental Services. Joe is a very detailed coach who focuses on player development and building a team first atmosphere. Joe is a strong believer in creating a positive team culture that thrives on hard work and maximum effort. When not coaching, he enjoys working on his property, hunting, and spending time with his family.
Jeff Brown and his wife, Stacy, have two daughters, Sydney (age 11) and Avery (5), and live in Shelbyville.
I have worked at The Shelbyville News for nearly 20 years and was named Managing Editor in August 2017, after serving as Sports editor for 17 years that allowed me to cover such sporting events as the Super Bowl, the Indianapolis 500, the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Indians as well as various NCAA and IHSAA events. I graduated from Indiana State University in 1992 and attended graduate school at the University of Oklahoma, before accepting an internship with the Oklahoma City 89ers (Triple A affiliate of the Texas Rangers) that led to a job offer with the organization that lasted for two more seasons. I spent one year as the assistant general manager of the independent baseball league Greenville (Miss.) Bluesmen and another year as ticket manager for the Carolina Diamonds, a professional women's fastpitch softball team based just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, before returning home to Shelbyville to be closer to family and start a career in journalism. I have coached Sydney since she started in the local parks department T-ball league as a 4-year-old, and helped form a travel softball squad called Shelby Storm in 2015. After two years operating the Storm, Sydney and I moved on to Xplosion, based in Greenwood, for one season and have spent the past year with the Mafia organization.
Mandy Rentschler comes to us with over 11 years of personal instruction experience. She first started at Champion's Edge on the east side of Indianapolis and once she moved to the west side set up shop at Extra Innings - Indy West. She has dedicated a lot of time and energy into learning the psychological and technical parts of this game we love, softball, to bring a well rounded coach experience that highlights the mental, physical and execution parts of the training process. Using unconventional and sometimes wacky key words she is able to help the coaching better coach as well as the players keep from over thinking their processes while out on the playing field.
Mandy played travel softball started at age 10 on a 14U team, once she was 12 she was traveling with a local A-class team and worked her way through high school in hopes to play in college. She was offered multiple scholarships to D1 colleges, but suffered a significant injury that ended her playing career at age 18. Her first few years were tough, but she found coaching and knows her skills are being used for the greater good. "I never appreciated my skills back then, I knew I was good and thought I would always be able to play at the level I did. Looking back, I needed to take better care of my body and use it the best way possible to get results. That is what I want to show the kids I work with, how to best use their bodies and not injure themselves."
Mandy is looking forward to working with Prospects in many different capacities and is excited for the growth of our young athletes.
